Straight from Lee Child's twitter account: "**Breaking NEWS!!* 'Scorpion' creator Nick Santora will adapt the best-selling novels by Lee Child for a potentially huge franchise for the tech giant's Prime Video platform. #JackReacher https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/jack-reacher-tv-series-works-at-amazon-1224429"

I hope they don't screw it up. I've read all the books and both movies which are actually pretty good. Article says Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote and directed the first film and was a producer on the sequel, is among the executive producers on the Amazon project.
I think I read that Tom Cruise owns all the movie rights options. I'd rather see more movies, but if the show is good, I'm alright with that.

Is Tom Cruise playing Reacher? Or are they going to get someone who better resembles the character?
I’m pretty excited for this.

Has anyone seen Jack Ryan on amazon? Legit show.

I watched part of the first episode, but I didn't stick with it. Sometimes I have to start a show a couple times before I get into it. I was just thinking the other day about giving it another shot. I like most of the Jack Ryan movies.
Does it follow any of the books, or is it all new material?

Seems like it does it’s own thing. Have to give another shot. They are doing another season I think

Did you read the Reacher books too?

Never got into them but I was debating if I should. You?

I’ve read them all up to Blue Moon, which I think doesn’t come out until October.
Some are better than others. Like Nothing to Lose took me three tries to get through for a total of like 6 weeks. It’s probably my least favorite of the books.
Some of its hilarious like he’s just so muscley that bullets ricochet off his chest muscle.

I've read most of Jack Reacher books. They're pretty good but some are better than others. No joke about bullets bouncing off of him - he took a .38 to the chest and walked it off 😂 He's like 6'4 and a couple hundred pounds with hands like whole hams in the books. Of course Tom Cruise is perfect for the role!
I've read a few Clancy books but I don't think I got to any with Jack Ryan that I remember

I never read Tom Clancy. I’ve heard they are “guy-books” and the last guy book I tried to read was the series that the show Longmire was based on. I never got passed the first chapter and I had that book for 9 weeks.

I think Tom writes most for male audience but Hollywood now will make sure that everyone is included so I’m sure there is some draw to the series for all.

Should I read them in publication order or the order they happen in?

I don’t think it matters but if you like things in order then it’s best to start from the begining

Apparently everyone is trying to read them in chronological order so I’ll go with publication order. Less waiting for books at the library.

Started Jack Ryan over from Season 1 Episode 1. It's pretty good. It reminds me of 24 but without the breakneck pace and bad overacting.

Started reading the Hunt for Red October. And I’m enjoying it.
