No Bounds on What Media Will do to Push Anti-Gun Agenda?Last week, Wayne LaPierre and the National Rifle Association
released a video detailing their idea on how to stop violent crimes and, surprise, their answer isn't the "more gun control" tripe that the anti-Constitution zealots like to spew. It is to start enforcing existing laws and to stop allowing violent offenders to roam the streets and victimize more innocents.
Apparently, the Huffington Post took great umbrage to this, pulled out their race card, and trotted out one of
Big Gun Control's favorite fairy tales about how the NRA is made up of angry, old, racist white guys. The NRA, they say, is so racist that they can't tell black people apart. HuffPo's Mike "The Gun Guy" Weisser, says that one of the photos shown in the NRA video as a photo of a "thug named Darius Brown" was actually Jamal Streeter, one of several charged in the murder of 13 year old Darius Brown while he was playing basketball. Shame, shame, shame that the NRA has to make up such things to push their pro-gun agenda.
Mike Weisser's exact words were "
Oh well, if every young man of color is either a gangbanger or thug, how hard is it to get them all mixed up?" Exactly right, Mr. Weisser. Through what kind of racist lenses must someone be viewing the world to exhibit that sort of behavior and drag someone's name through the mud because they can't be bothered to fact check or can't tell two people apart? What kind of person would do such a thing?
Well... Mike seems to be exactly that kind of person. In their rush to slam the NRA and push their anti-gun "NRA is racist" narrative, the good folks over at Huffington Post couldn't be bothered with the notion that there might be two human beings on planet Earth with similar names and ran with their hateful, false hit piece. There was a 13 year old boy named Darius Brown who was allegedly killed by Jamal Streeter (and I'm sure that Darius's family loves having Mike dredge up those painful memories to push his agenda), but those two have nothing to do with any of this.
The (correctly identified) photo in the NRA video is of De'Eris Brown, a thug who, as LaPierre says, was apparently out murdering a 9 year old girl instead of serving the 10-year sentence that he received when he was convicted of previous crimes. | Jamal Streeter and De'Eris Brown. Same guy, according to HuffPo |
The HuffPo article now features a footnote "correction" saying that the piece has been "updated to correct the error." Although the mis-identification "slip-up" has been fixed, the headline remains "
NRA Repeats Same Old Misleading, Racist Tropes in New Anti-Clinton Video" and the body of the article still includes such Pulitzer-bound lines as "
it was just a matter of time until the NRA got its own campaign playbook together and started adding its voice to the political fray," saying "
[H]ere we have the NRA game plan as we inch towards election 2016" with its "
misrepresentations and racist-laden messaging this time around."
Ironically, Mike "the gun guy" Weisser's article still goes so far as to call the NRA video "insipid."
It seems that there are truly no limits on the depths of depravity to which the anti-gun left will go to push their agenda and smear those they oppose.
Thanks to Mr. Colion Noir's video for bringing HuffPo's hypocrisy to light.
