4 Gun Control Bills Go To Senate Monday
« on: June 17, 2016, 11:05:29 PM »

4 firearm related bills will go before Senate on Monday. You can contact your legislators directly through the NRA-ILA website: https://act.nraila.org/takeaction.aspx?AlertID=261

As soon as I find the PopVox information, I will update the PopVox Page. I am currently having issues with the PopVox page.

All 4 bills are being proposed as amendments to the commerce, justice, and science appropriations bill before Senate. The first bill will call for enhanced background checks, close the "gun-show loop hole" and ban individuals on the terror watch list from purchasing firearms. It is backed by Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut).

The  second is a bill backed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California) that went to a vote in December of 2015 and was didn't pass. It would ban individuals on the terror watch list from purchasing firearms. Opponents of the bill were non-supportive because an individual can be placed on the watch list without being found guilty of a crime. Other backs of the bill stated that due process will be "baked" into the process.

The third bill, introduced by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) would give the Attorney General to delay a weapons purchase by someone on the terror watch list, or being under investigation for terrorism within the past five years. During that time, LEO would be able to get court-order to stop the sale if they can show probable cause. The bill also allows for the buyer to be taken into custody if probable cause is shown. The NRA has backed this bill. opponents say it's impossible for the FBI to get a court case together in three days and would ruin their investigations, insisting that the terrorists would be able to purchase firearms online.

The fourth bill, backed by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), would alert the FBI if a terrorism suspect purchases a weapon. Anyone who has been investigated for terrorism-related activities within the past five years would be entered in the NICS as such.

Do it.  Email them.  Call them.  Do it every day.  Write them letters.  Visit them.  Get your pro 2A friends to do the same.  They should know your name and how you feel.

Enough of a bunch of whiny antis being the vocal minority that gets the attention and legislative action.  Stop waiting for someone else to carry your water.  Join the NRA, donate to NRA-ILA and NRA-PVF, donate to SAF.  They are really spinning the latest terrorist attack and trying to use it to push for gun control.  PUSH BACK!

NSSF Action Alert:

Stand Up for Your Second Amendment Rights
Call Your U.S. Senators Today!

Look up your U.S. Senators' office number at www.senate.gov/senators/contact/. Then dial direct.

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote today on four gun-related proposals offered as amendments to the Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill. NSSF urges you to calls to your U.S. Senators' offices to urge them to oppose old and previously defeated gun-control measures now being sponsored under a new anti-terrorism label by Sens. Feinstein, Schumer, Murphy and Booker.

We are all united in wanting to stop terrorism. We must, however, oppose efforts that will do nothing to stop terrorist acts, but that will advance old and previously defeated gun-control measures under a new label while denying due process and Second Amendment rights.

The best measures to protect Second Amendment and due process rights are being introduced by Sens. Cornyn and Grassley. Sen. Cornyn's bill would require a court order for the Justice Department to block gun sales to persons on the problem-plagued terrorist watch. Sen. Grassley's bill would ensure adequate funding and encourage states to submit all appropriate records to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) and not expand the system.

The U.S. Capitol Switchboard is being flooded with calls from both sides of this issue.

Look up your U.S. Senators' office number at www.senate.gov/senators/contact/.
Then dial direct.

Don't hesitate. Call now!
