Man it’s been a very busy week. Range Day was cold (towards the end of the day, I was shaking so bad that I could barely hold a weapon steady) and very windy (a few of the non shooting exhibitors had to pack up early because the wind made it nearly impossible to keep items on the table). It also made shooting interesting because you weren’t only being pelleted with sand and rocks in the face and eyes, you may have been pelleted by hot shells from neighboring lanes that should not have been able to hit you.
Despite all of that, I still had a great time. I got to see some new products and even got to shoot my first full auto shotgun.
Some of my favorites from Range Day 2019 - (pictures coming soon).
United Defense Corp had some AK-47s for us to shoot. I shot the 16” (a rifle) and the 12.5”. There was a 6.5” on site as well but I didn’t shoot that one (both of the shorter two are pistols). The 16” was fun to shoot. I really liked the way it looked and it has places for QD mounts for slings. It had very low recoil and an awesome trigger. There wasn’t a lot of info on the trigger that could be shared since it’s coming to the market soon. (The last time I liked a trigger was the CMC trigger for AKs a couple of years ago).
The 12.5” still has a full length gas system and I liked the way it handled as well. While I didn’t shoot the 6.5” one, I can say that it has short piston and an adjustable gas port. The other GunLink shooter seemed to enjoy it. I look forward to pricing this trigger and thinking about putting it in my AK.
