2016 POTUS General Election
« on: May 27, 2016, 10:57:33 PM »
If you live under a rock, then you may not know that Donald Trump has officially won enough delegates to win the Republican nomination in June. This past weekend, Trump officially received an endorsement from the NRA during the NRAAM. As far as I can tell, a Trump has not announced a VP running mate yet, but speculated that he is looking for someone with politically experience. I saw on FoxNews a while back where a commentator thought Trump should ask Kasich, since Kasich mellows out the extremes in Trump and another said Cruz since between Cruz and Trump, that's almost everyone that turned out to vote in the primaries. What do you think?

If you were in the Louisville area for the show, you may have had a chance to see Ted Nugent speak. During his speech, he stressed the importance of talking to people to try to get them to see the benefit of Trump over Clinton. I got the distinct impression that Uncle Ted was not sold on the idea of Trump, but he is sold on the idea that Clinton or Sanders in the White House is by far a worse outcome.

What advice do you have to help convince people, especially younger voters, to support Trump? Do you have a preferred source of information? Is it easier to "make" people see how horrible a Clinton or Sanders would be instead?

Enough delegates or not, you couldn't pay me enough to be in Cleveland during the June convention.  I wouldn't want to be there, I wouldn't want to be a resident there, I wouldn't want to be involved with the convention, and I darn sure wouldn't want to be an LEO there.
With the way these animals behave just during a speech or a rally, it will quite literally be a zoo when it sinks in that he's going to be the candidate and, likely, the next president.

"Protesters" were getting sporty in California tonight in San Diego and possibly Fresno too and had to be run off by a few hundred cops in riot gear.  On one feed I was watching, the unwashed masses of dirtbags clamoring for socialism were moving back from the police line and a few among them were running ahead yelling "they're shooting at us" (talking about the police).  This is a dangerous and foolish game to play - all it takes is some gullible douche-nuts "freedom fighter" to believe it and start lobbing rocks, firebombs, or - worse - pop off a few rounds from their illegally acquired gun at the LEOs.  Then you can guarantee that they will be shooting at them and the entire situation turns ugly for everyone.

The main silver lining that I see is that, pretty much universally, the dems seem bitterly divided.  Hillary supporters are rabid fans of the disgraceful felonious traitor and despise Bernie's brand of socialism.  Bernouts seem to hate, hate, hate Hillary and, despite their naive misplaced allegiance, can at least recognize that she is crooked, corrupt, and in the pocket of various dangerous special interests.  Whichever one gets the nod for the general, I hope that those attitudes continue and I think that should be a goal.  Either one would, hopefully, be easy to beat.

Bernie is "scared to death" that Trump can beat Hillary.

I think Trump has a decent shot at winning the general, I think that becomes a good shot if he picks the right VP candidate.

Just some fun fact, but NIxon was the first Vice President that was given something to do instead of being a tie breaker in Senate. Now, back to the late 1890s, the VP was consulted for advice like a confidante to the POTUS and in early 1900s, the VP started to attend the cabinet meetings with the POTUS. Eisenhower basically "ordered" Nixon to attend the cabinet meetings in his place. And Reagan was the first POTUS nominee that picked his VP running mate, until then the convention then elected a running mate after the POTUS was nominated.
