Brooklyn cops broke up a huge, Virginia-based weapons-smuggling outfit and seized 217 weapons — the biggest firearms bust in the borough’s history, authorities said Wednesday.

Gun runners were caught on tape boasting about the commonwealth’s weaker gun laws that allowed them to easily assemble their cache of weapons, which they sold up north, according to police and prosecutors.

All the weapons seized were purchased legally by suspects or their straw buyers in Virginia, officials said.

“We’re going to go after anyone who brings illegal firearms into our city and into our borough,” acting Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez told reporters, standing behind a podium and displaying some of the seized guns.

The weapons included AK-47s, AR-15s, Tommy guns, Mossberg 715Ts and MAC-10s, officials said.

Handguns seized included .45-caliber Desert Eagle 1911s, Glocks with extended ammunition magazines and various other .45-caliber, .40-caliber, .380-caliber and 9mm weapons.

All 217 weapons were purchased through one NYPD cop, working undercover and making multiple buys.

" boasting about the commonwealth’s weaker gun laws that allowed them to easily assemble their cache of weapons, which they sold up north"

"All the weapons seized were purchased legally by suspects or their straw buyers"

"Prices varied between $800 and $1,200 per handgun and from $1,800 to $2,200 for assault weapons"

"All 217 weapons were purchased through one NYPD cop, working undercover and making multiple buys."

There's so much wrong with this.   :o  It reeks of the usual NY gun agenda.  Watch for stricter laws or more of the same since the gang members are already breaking the laws they already have.

217 all to one cop?  If I was selling guns and found some chump that would pay 1200-2200 for one gun I'd sell him as many as possible too!  haha  The NYPD created the market for them to sell to!

It's funny how it's the EXISTING laws that netted this bust but I'm sure they'll be pushing for more New York style laws elsewhere now to keep everyone "SAFEr" and use this as some kind of evidence to make that case.  All the while they'll be blind to the fact that the BS NY laws that violate the 2A had nothing to do with this being illegal and that it's the existing federal laws that make straw purchases illegal and make it illegal to sell guns across state lines are what made the bust.

Guns, bombs, whatever... Criminals are going to get weapons regardless of what the laws say.  They will steal them, they will have someone "clean" get them for them, they will make their own, or they'll just get them from across the open borders.  They can't keep drugs, weapons, etc. out of the hands of bad guys in prisons, WTF makes them think they can keep them out of the hands of bad guys out on the street?

But they only give $200 per stolen guns at their buybacks?   ;)
