We wrote about the Carry Academy online CCW training course on the GunLink Blog a while back.  Since we have recently revamped the local boards here on the GunLink forums, we thought that this would be the perfect place to share the info.

In addition to Iowa and Oregon, the Carry Academy class meets the training requirements for a CCW permit in the state of Virginia, including for non-residents.  The class is all online and takes less than an hour, so if you are having trouble fitting a CCW class - or if you are just using that as an excuse - you can now take care of your training requirement during your lunch break.

One of the things that makes a Virginia non-resident permit so handy is the number of states that honor them.  According to USAcarry.com, Virginia non-resident permits are honored in: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and. Wyoming.

Virginia non-resident permit are, however, not honored in:  California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, New York City, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virgin Islands, Washington, American Samoa, District of Columbia, and N. Mariana Islands.
