Welcome, DrFootball.  It's always good to see fresh faces.  Did you just cover Jets/Giants, football in general, college ball, or what?

What is your podcast called?  I used to listen to 3 or 4 different podcasts when my job allowed for sitting in one place and doing work that I could still do while paying attention to podcast.  I haven't listened to many in a while but I usually like to at least check out what is out there.

Isn't the Big Sandy shoot in AZ?  Do you ever make it out there?

Thanks for the welcome Man! In Reverse,..

The Big Sandy is in Wikiup, Az., about 2-1/2 Hrs.  away from me. Held 2X yearly, but the Bigger Crowds are in October.
I have only been there once, 2 years ago as a "Media" person, But I Shot the FA. Guns of two of my Friends who were there with a Table. One has a Ruger AC-556(the Full Auto Version of the Mini-14, still used by the Coast Guard Boarding Teams.....)and being a Ruger Fanboy(I own 9, between inheriting and what my wife and I bought) and I love my Mini and my 10/22's, But Carry an LC9 W/A Laser Max Green Laser/Light combo Daily!!

The Podcast is(Again) called Firearms Chat. Right now its hosted on a Private Dropbox folder i can invite you to but it will be public again shortly. anyone interested and PM me and I will invite them, until we have a new Host Server....
We have been recording since early Spring of 2013, Prior we were hosted on Firearms TALK(and many of the Old Episodes can be found there(up until late fall of 2014), then another Forum site which will be unnamed.

As for Football, I covered the Giants from 1988-2011, for both my own Publications and Radio shows, and for other outlets, and the Jets from 2001-2007(remind me to tell you a funny story in PM about the J-E-T-S unless you are a Jets Fan), and we also did Both Major and Mid-level College Football teams(Both FBS & FCS) from about 1992 until I moved here to Az. I had difficulty covering Games like Fordham vs Columbia because I attended Both Schools at Different times. I had a Draft Credential for a Long time, and knew a lot of folks in the League office.

I found out about the site from a Biz Card I picked up in the Press room @ Shot Show 2015....
I would like to get my Podcast Listed here...

Welcome to the forums here. I absolutely love football. Unfortunately, not a Giants or a Jets fan unless they are playing Baltimore or Pittsburg.

NY to AZ is quite the move? Are you enjoying the weather differences? I have only been to AZ once, in high school, for the Fiesta Bowl. What had you make the change from football to firearms?

As for listing your podcast, I'll contact the head guy and tell him that you're interested in case he has been busy with his day job. I personally do not know how to do it.

So LDG, does that make you a Cleveland Browns Fan? or the Bengals? I'm the Same way with Dallas(I *HATE* Them Cowboys!!!)

The Move was planned going back to 2006 for me, and back to the 1990's for my Wife. We came here on a "Honeymoon Part 2"(part one was Montauk L.I. in February, and Mohegan Sun just after that) in August, after loosing my Wife's Dad the Month Prior.
As for the weather, when you go from 6-8 Snow Storms per Year(On Long Island) to 3 accumulations of more then 1 inch in 3-1/2 years, then you Enjoy the Wether.

I'm right in the Middle of the state, 2 Hours North of Sky Harbor Airport In Phx., and 2 Hours South of The Grand Canyon. So we don't get the 115 Degree Temps that Phx. or Tucson Gets. I'm also only 4-1/2 hours from Vegas, so I get to drive to SHOT instead of Fly...This Year will BE my 4th SHOT(with a Press Credential).

As for "The Change".....Well. I had a falling out with several Partners, the 3 main ones being "Friends" of 10,15, and 45 years Respectively. Basically they did not like the fact that my Integrity was not for sale.

I come from a Military(Dad was a career Army Reserve Sgt. Maj., with active duty during the Korean War, and As a 37 Year old Reservist in Vietnam In 1965.) and Police(also Dad, a Federal LE) Family, with about 11 Predecessors having served in the Four Branches, including two Recent (Older Cousins) members being General Officers. I served just 3 weeks shy of 12 Years(5.5 active and almost 6.5 as an active reservist). With Desert Storm, I had decided That I "Had enough."  I was a Chief Warrant Officer, and was a Helicopter Pilot for the Most part, but I had a few secondary jobs that took me "out of the Cockpit"

If you have seen the Movie "Black Hawk Down," I served in that Aviation Unit from 1/1982 until I left at the end of Desert Storm. The 3 Pilots who died were friends of mine.......and the 4th, who was a POW for 11 Days and has written 3 books, Is also a friend....
I'm currently writing a Book about Mine and My families' Careers In the Military and LE....and I wrote a Book(coming out 8/30) on my 30 Years In Sports Media.....called "Confessions of a DraftNick"....

As for switching to "Shooting & Outdoor Media,..." After I moved here I decided I needed to switch gears. I had spent 30 Years Teaching(26), Coaching Football(18), Coaching NY Special Olympics(14), and Writing(since I was 11). and I decided I wanted to do something I enjoyed, and I wasn't Enjoying Football anymore. Now I enjoy watching Games much More then I did when I was sitting in the Press Box.

But Even in Shooting media, there are people who would just as soon screw you as they would help you....

Thank you for your service. I bet it's going to be an interesting book and I'll look for it.

I'm a Browns fan. Raised near Cleveland. I remember the near riots when the Browns up and moved. I don't think anyone was prepared for that backlash, but they got to keep the name. Unfortunately, I'm dating a Steelers fan. He likes to call the Ravens the Browns. He thinks it is funny. I can't decide which team I dislike more.

Having grown up in the lake effect snow area, I understand wanting to get away from the storms. When I went to college, I moved about as far south as you can get in OH without leaving the state and now I'm in KY. Even the 6 hour difference is enormous, but we did get some nasty storms this past winter. I hadn't realized how well I have acclimated to the warmer weather until we had subzero temperatures in KY.

unfortunately, I don't think you can go into any career without having a few that are bad apples. In my field, a prominent figure (internationally known by just everyone who has taken a science course since 1970) is a sexist and racist. loudly, sexist and racist. But, people still want to work with him because of who he is. In the end though, you  need to what is best for you and work is only work if you don't enjoy it. I'm glad you found something that makes you happy and I hope it continues to make you happy. I also look forward to listening to your podcast.

:)Thats so Funny that your a Browns Fan. Long story Short: I met Jim Brown as a Very young fan at a Giants Browns Pre-season Game in the 70's. My Old HS Coach Was a Browns & Giants Player In the 60's(was traded from NY to Cleveland, wound up Blocking for Brown during his last season playing when a Starter got hurt). More recently, until a few months ago I was a regular on an Internet Radio show out of Cleveland called "The Sports Fix" every Tuesday, for 3 years, as I said, until a few months ago(which, i actually miss).
As for Science, I have a family History there too. An Uncle by Marriage (my Father's Sister's Husband, who just passed in the summer of 2012 at 93), was a Major in the US Army Science Command in WWII. What I didn't know until I was In HS Was that He was one of the builders of "the Bomb" and then, for 25+ years from the Mid 60's on, he toured Europe every summer speaking on the effects of Nuclear weapons, and how the German people should allow what was done to the Jews to be forgotten(we're Jewish, but I 'Converted" 2 years ago to Messianic Jewish beliefs-long explanation not for this PM,..maybe the next one). He was also the first Jew to Teach at Columbia in the 1950's, and that helped me get into Columbia twice(once as a Grad student in 1994, and once as a Post Graduate asst. Football Coach (from 2006-2009). His Son, my cousin, currently teaches at Texas A&M, in the Agriculture Dept. Maybe you recognize the Name?? (My Uncle is the Late Dr. Leonard Wasser, My Cousin is Dr. Jeremy Wasser) My "Dr." is also Official. I got a Doctorate in Education Technology 9 Years ago, hoping Rudy Guiliani's freeze on Raises for NYC Teachers would be lifted, but no such luck with That Scumbag Bloomberg as Mayor....and now Obama wants to get a 3rd term....the whole thing stinks like an "Alinsky" operation.....(I also Taught History)
