Tony Semple Foundation For Hope Fulfills Dreams
Mossy Oak® and other outdoor industry brands support TSFFH Outdoor Adventures


LANSING, MI – The Tony Semple Foundation for Hope (TSFFH) Outdoor Adventures program was created to accommodate life-challenging individuals that want to go hunting and fishing as one of their life wishes. The Muy Grande Ranch was the home of the 2011 Outdoor Adventures program held on September 15-18.

All nine TSFFH Outdoor Adventure candidates were successful in taking a whitetail buck. One participant, 15-year-old Dylan Odland who suffers from cystic fibrosis explained, “This is an opportunity for me and the others to get away from the pains of the hospital and the treatments and just have fun.”

“This is an incredible program that literally brings hope to families that have been focused on the realities of having a child diagnosed with a life-threatening or life-altering situation,” said former Detroit Lions football player Tony Semple. “I played nine years in the NFL with some of the toughest player, but these youngsters are the epitome of courage; they are the true fighters.”

Mossy Oak, LaCrosse and Cabela’s provided a great deal of support of the TSFFH by outfitting the candidates with camouflage clothing and footwear.

Georgia-Pacific Wood Products Introduces New Camouflage Panels Featuring Mossy Oak® Break-Up Infinity®

ATLANTA – Just in time for hunting season, Georgia-Pacific has introduced its 2011 camouflage structural panel featuring the new Mossy Oak® Break-Up Infinity® pattern from Haas Outdoors, Inc.

The panels are constructed of high-quality Blue Ribbon® OSB, and are laminated with the camouflage pattern. Break-Up Infinity features six layers of depth, detail and definition, so you can actually look into the pattern as if you were looking right into the woods.

Available at Lowe’s Home Improvement, these panels can be used for the construction of deer stands and other temporary exterior applications, and have also been used in interior decorative applications.

“We’re very excited about the new pattern from Mossy Oak,” said Leslie Hutto, sales manager for Georgia-Pacific Wood Products. “They have been a great supplier to us and have given us access to their newest and most innovative patterns. Featuring the new Break-Up Infinity pattern on our camo panel enables us to offer Lowe’s customers a way to share their passion for the Mossy Oak line.”

Birchwood Casey® Adds New Color To The Popular Shoot-N-C® Target Line

Since their introduction, Shoot-N-C® targets have been the target of choice. The instant “halo” effect around each shot makes them popular for novice as well as experienced shooters.   

For 2012 Birchwood Casey has introduced a new line of White/Black Shoot-N-C targets. The white targets leave a black “halo” around each shot that can easily be seen at many distances. The new Browning 725 showcases an all-new FireLite Mechanical Trigger that offers unmatched feel and lighter pull weights than ever before offered on a Citori.  The innovative design features reduced take up, a crisp break and shorter overtravel.  Trigger pull weights are about 3-3 ½ lbs. for Sporting guns and 4-4 ½ lbs. for Field Models.

Browning’s new Inflex II Technology recoil pad gives the new 725 the next generation of the most recoil absorbing pad available.  A softer new material provides better recoil absorbing performance and is super slippery to prevent snagging on clothing when shouldering.  Internal directional deflection construction guides the comb down and away from the cheek for greater shooting comfort and faster, more accurate follow-up shots.

The new 725 Citori will feature Browning’s new Invector-DS™ (Double Seal) Choke System that provides better patterning, lighter weight and a sleeker barrel profile.  The combination of muzzle-end treads and thin-wall construction allows for a longer, more gradually tapered choke tube that results in more evenly scaled patterns.  The Invector-DS also features a proprietary brass seal that prevents gas and grit from slipping between the barrel and choke tube.
     
Citori 725 Field and 725 Sporting Models will be offered for 2012.  The new low-profile receivers have a silver nitride finish.   Field models feature a high-relief engraving and sporting models feature a gold accented engraving.  Both models will feature Browning’s Vector Pro™ lengthened forcing cones for improved patterns and performance.

Founder and CEO Dan Costa is handing over day-­-to-­-day leadership of the company to Tom Davin, 5.11 Tactical’s Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Dan Costa, a chef by trade founded 5.11 Tactical in 2001 with the authentic tactical pant and is credited for revolutionizing the public safety uniform business. Most uniform dealers in the US catering to police, fire and EMS departments showed stagnating sales until 5.11 Tactical created a new segment, which has grown steadily since 2002.

5.11 Tactical is largely responsible for the development of the tactical or off-­-duty segment," explains Roger Heldman, a uniform dealer who has been in the industry for 33 years. “Dan Costa’s energy and creativity opened the industry’s eyes to the importance of marketing and promotion. In eight years he was able to build a brand as strong as others that have been around for 50 years or longer.”

“In 1990 all police officers wore patrol uniforms as were no special teams,” explains Mike Harden, Chief of Police in Modesto, CA. “Now we have 14 teams dealing with everything from drugs and gangs to bombs and homeland security.” These special teams require specialized apparel and gear -­- that is where 5.11 Tactical excels and innovates.

From its humble beginnings the company has grown to include over 400 styles and products from tactical and duty gear, to footwear, outerwear, accessories and packs. Tom Davin
Davin was a U.S. Marine infantry officer where he served in command assignments for 4 years before being selected to become and Infantry Tactics Instructor at The Basic School on the Marine Corps base in Quantico, VA. Following the Marine Corps, Tom earned an MBA at the Harvard Business School. Prior to joining 5.11 Tactical Tom was CEO of Panda Restaurant Group (Panda Express), where he lead the dramatic growth of the company from $500 million in sales to more than $1.2 billion. He has served as a Director on the board of Oakley Inc.

Seen at the Shot Show: the .357 Magnum Automatic


Blaine, Minn. – Coonan Inc. is pleased to introduce its .357 Magnum automatic pistol at the NSSF Shot Show, January 17-20 in Las Vegas. The 1911-style semiautomatic pistol is manufactured from stainless steel and fires standard .357 Magnum ammunition as well as .38 +P rounds.

The gun is a revision of legendary gun designer Dan Coonan's original fabrication of his .357 Magnum automatic. The pistol has been a smash among handgun aficionados who want a unique pistol, something that isn't seen on the range every day.

Coonan says that he and his company are often asked how his .357 auto compares to a run-of-the-mill 1911-style pistol. “Our .357 is very similar to the 1911,” Coonan says. “In fact, there are a bunch of parts that are fully interchangeable. Obviously, our magazine and handgrip are a little bigger to accommodate the Magnum round, but it's a very similar experience in terms of holding and firing the 1911.”

But of course, you're wondering, What's it like to shoot? Is it hard to handle? Is there a big recoil? Coonan explains with a laugh. “On our company website, coonaninc.com, we have a picture showing my three daughters each shooting the .357 auto on the range. They're not very big girls. Actually, that's an understatement. They're not even as big as me, and I get harassed all the time at work for being half the size of most of our employees!”

The first is a heavy-duty two (2) gallon handheld sprayer with Viton™ seals and gaskets, an anti-clog filter, adjustable
brass nozzle, and a 46" reinforced hose. This model is perfect for hard to reach spots. Second, is the heavy-duty
four (4) gallon backpack sprayer, which also has all Viton™ seals and gaskets, a 100% leak proof cover, adjustable
cone and fan nozzles, pressure relief valve, deluxe padded straps, and left/right hand pumps. The backpack sprayer
comes in handy during early spring and late fall when the ground is wet and the ATV can tear up the land that the

Next is the durable ATV sprayer in fifteen (15) and twenty-five (25) gallon capacities. They're designed for durability
and superior performance with chemical resistant tanks and heavy duty 2.2 GPM Everflo® pumps. Both models
mount directly to the ATV and feature a pressure gauge, a manifold for easy adaption of boom and boomless
accessories, a Viton™ equipped 19" pistol grip dripless shutoff, and molded connectors with alligator battery clips.

Last in the line of sprayers are the forty (40) and sixty (60) gallon tow-behind models. With chemical-resistant
polyethylene tanks and 3.0 GPM Everflo® pumps these sprayers are built to last. These two models are
accompanied by a trailer with all-terrain tires for easy towing behind an ATV. Both sprayers come with a 10' boom
and also have the Viton™ equipped 19" pistol grip dripless shutoff and pressure gauge. These top of the line
BioLogic® sprayers provide the customer with durable and hassle-free solutions to land upkeep.

The BioLogic® Spreader line consists of six (6) heavy duty spreader options.
The first is a Handheld Broadcast Spreader made of Mossy Oak commercial grade, water-resistant fabric. It features
a calibrated flow rate adjuster, metal gears which are covered for the customer's protection, and an easy on-off
control that makes this spreader ideal for sowing seeds or led lighting.

Next is the Push Broadcast Spreader which comes in fifty (50), eighty-five (85), one-hundred (100), and one-hundred
