Committee refuses to hear Kentucky Constitutional Carry Bill
« on: January 04, 2017, 03:21:21 PM »
Added 2/6:
Only a couple more days before this goes to committee.

These are the members of the committee:

Sen. Albert Robinson [Chair]
Sen. C.B. Embry Jr. [Vice Chair]
Sen. Julian M. Carroll
Sen. Perry B. Clark
Sen. Ernie Harris
Sen. Jimmy Higdon
Sen. Stan Humphries
Sen. Gerald A. Neal
Sen. Dennis Parrett
Sen. Wil Schroder
Sen. Dan "Malano" Seum
Sen. Whitney Westerfield
Sen. Mike Wilson
Sen. Max Wise

You can call this number and ask to leave a message for ALL the members of the committee in support of the bill.  1-800-372-7181  You'll get through to an actual human being and she'll take down your message and give it to the committee members.  You can contact them individually, as well - my senator happens to be on the committee.

Contact your reps and tell them to support permit-less carry!  You can still get a permit if you want one (to use while traveling or whatever), but you wouldn't need to get a permit to carry concealed in KY.

From NRA-ILA

Today, January 3, the Kentucky State Legislature convened for its 2017 Legislative Session.  Following the beginning of the new session, constitutional carry legislation was introduced as Senate Bill 7.  Contact your state Senator and politely urge them to support Senate Bill 7 when it comes up for a vote.

TAKE ACTION

This pro-gun legislation would allow any law-abiding individual who can legally possess a firearm to carry a handgun for self-defense in Kentucky without having to obtain a permit to do so.

Again, please click the “Take Action” button above to contact your state Senator and politely urge them to support Senate Bill 7 when it comes up for a vote.

Stay tuned to www.NRAILA.org as well as your NRA-ILA email alerts for more information as it becomes available.  Your NRA-ILA will keep you updated as the 2017 Legislative Session progresses.

I'll be contacting my representatives.

I noticed that public universities wasn't mentioned. Would this then allow for carry on public campuses?

This bill changes nothing except the requirement to have a piece of plastic to conceal the weapon that you are carrying.

It would just allow people without a permit to cover up their weapon (which they can already legally open carry).

Permits will still be available, the process to get them is still the same, when and where you can carry is still the same, etc is how I read it.

Kentucky: Constitutional/Permitless Carry to be Heard by Senate Committee

On Thursday, February 9, the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs, & Public Protection Committee is scheduled to hear constitutional/permitless carry legislation, Senate Bill 7.  NRA members and Second Amendment supporters are encouraged to contact their state Senator and politely urge them to SUPPORT Senate bill 7.

Senate Bill 7 would allow any law-abiding individual who can legally possess a firearm to carry a handgun for self-defense in Kentucky without having to obtain a permit to do so.  This bill recognizes a law-abiding adult’s unconditional Right to Keep and Bear Arms for self-defense in the manner he or she chooses.  Self-defense situations are difficult, if not impossible, to anticipate.  Accordingly, a law-abiding adult’s right to defend himself or herself in such situations should not be conditioned by government-mandated time delays and taxes.

Again, please click the “Take Action” button above to contact your state Senator and urge them to SUPPORT Senate bill 7 when it comes up for a vote.

Kentucky: Your Help Needed, Constitutional/Permitless Carry Pulled from Consideration

Quote
Unfortunately, the constitutional/permitless carry legislation, Senate Bill 7, has been pulled from consideration in the Kentucky Senate.  With a short 2017 legislative session, SB 7 must not be delayed through the legislative process.  It is of the utmost importance that this bill be scheduled for a hearing!

It is critical you contact the Senate Veterans, Military Affairs, & Public Protection Committee immediately and urge them to bring Senate Bill 7 for consideration.  Also, please contact your state Senator and call 1-800-372-7181 with your support for this important self-defense legislation!
