Cerberus/Freedom Group?

http://www.pakalertpress.com/2012/05/16/who-is-buying-american-firearms-companies-why/
I have heard about this sometime ago. I was wondering what information this group could provide? Is this true, some of it true, or just made up entirely.
I followed some of the links, but I don't see the claim that Soros is behind it etc. I just don't see it, it's like reading my insurance policy!
Does anyone have information on it?

From the Fact Check website:
Quote
Q: Does George Soros own the company buying many firms that make guns and ammunition?
A: No. Contrary to a fanciful claim made in a viral email, the Freedom Group is not linked to the liberal billionaire. The National Rifle Association says the real owners are “strong supporters” of gun rights.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed Dan on the list, but thought someone else may be hidden. Interesting that the real owners are strong supporters of gun rights.

Cerberus is in the news following the recent CT school tragedy.

Posted here without comment, even if it does mean tongue biting.  However, feel free to add your own comments.

The money behind the Newtown massacre
via Fortune's Dan Primack
December 17, 2012

One way to reduce mass shootings is for big institutions to stop funding the assault weapon manufacturers.

Do you know who owns more than a 6% stake in the maker of .223 Bushmaster rifles, like the one used last Friday to murder 20 first graders and seven adults in Newtown, Connecticut? California public schoolteachers.

The company in question is Freedom Group, a privately-held firearms conglomerate formed by private equity and hedge fund group Cerberus Capital Management. Cerberus created the platform in April 2006 via the acquisition of Bushmaster, after which it added another 10 makers of firearms, ammunition and accessories (including Remington, Marlin Arms and Barnes Bullets).
...
Does Freedom Group not facilitate social injury? I'm not suggesting that social injury is its mission, but it certainly is a foreseeable consequence.
...
"Clearly you can make a case that this company's products fall within the 21 risk factors, particularly the one regarding human health," says CalSTRS spokesman Ricardo Duran. "But there are a lot of products that can be used responsibly or irresponsibly, and in this case it was used irresponsibly... Now that a tragic event like this has occurred, I'm sure that it is something that we will be discussing going forward."

Apparently someone is listening...  :-\

Cerberus To Sell Gunmaker Stake: Will More Investors Get Uncomfortable With Firearm Companies?

It remains unclear if last week’s tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School will break America’s firearm fever, but it is already having ramifications in the investment community.

Cerberus Capital Management, the private equity shop behind Freedom Group, the closely-held company that ranks as the nation’s largest rifle-maker, announced it will sell its stake in the gunmaker. The decision comes after a  major investor in Cerberus Capital Management, the California State Teachers’ Retirement System, raised concerns about the Freedom Group holding and said it was reviewing its investment in the private equity firm’s funds, Bloomberg reports.

“It is apparent that the Sandy Hook tragedy was a watershed event that has raised the national debate on gun control to an unprecedented level.  The debate essentially focuses on the balance between public safety and the scope of the Constitutional rights under the Second Amendment,” Ceberus says this morning in a media release. “We do not believe that Freedom Group or any single company or individual can prevent senseless violence or the illegal use or procurement of firearms and ammunition,” the firm added.

Always the guns fault, the NRAs fault, TVs fault, video games fault, movies fault, the medias fault, the ammos fault, the gun manufacturers fault, the gun sellers fault, other gun owners fault, and now its the fault of the investors in one company that invested in other companies that included gun makers.  Definitely not the fault of a crazy person who illegally murdered his family, illegally obtained guns after the laws stopped him from legally buying them, illegally broke into a place, and illegally murdered more people.  No way to personal responsibility.  More laws would have stopped this right?
