Remingtom 870 "Magnum Special Purpose", 12G

This is one very nice version of the ever popular Remingtom 870. Some time had gone by while seeking one but this came up as a local FTF sale - with the gun being all but new and had been bought for turkey hunting (thus the sights.) ....... but the original owner due to health issues decided to move it on.

It is good for length as 20" is still not too long to be unwieldy and after adding a mag extension (which now has a clamp to secure it better) ...... gives a useful 7+1 capacity. It is essentially in the HD category. With a 3" 00 buck load it does feel a bit ''strong"!

Back in '87 I picked up an almost identical shotgun, then it was stamped "Special Purpose Deer" I never got a chance to try it out on deer but IIRC the targets were scared at 50 yards. Kept it until I went away to college and needed book money (I spent my book money on beer). Anyway it was one of a few 870's I've owned over the years and never had a bad taste with any of them.

Hi - welcome to the board.  Sorry you had to move yours on - indeed the 870 (look at their sales!) has been a sturdy choice for many.  Must admit, this one is just about ideal for heft and feel.
