Title: battery life

What battery life do your lights get at what lumens?

2-Cell Elzetta ZFL-M60 Lights produce 235 lumens for ~1.5 hours then gradually fade.  3-Cell models get 50% longer runtime.

Please note that these are full-output ratings, not the "FL-1" ratings that most manufacturers use by which the runtime is defined as the time to which output is at 10% of the original output.  Buyer beware!

Never heard of the FL-1 thing before, I guess you learn something new every day.  Does Elzetta take a FL1 measurement at all?  How fast does it fade after the 1.5 hours of full output?

Does strobing make batteries last longer or does the switching on and off eat up more juice?

At this time, we do not use the FL-1 standard in rating our lights.  A 2 Cell Model will get approximately 8-hours before dropping to ~50 lumens.  A 3-Cell goes about 12 hours before dropping to that level.

Using the Low Mode with a High/Low Tailcap, a 2-Cell will last about 40 hours (60 hours for a 3-Cell).  Using the Strobe on a High/Strobe Tailcap will extend battery life about 50% compared to "High".
