It's always fun to see what will come out next. I'm surprised at waht they think is a good enough idea to try to launch sometimes but thats easy to say when you're not the one dreaming up new ideas. I couldn't even guess at what they are going to come up with.

What's the big improvement with a double barrel shotgun?  I've been shooting trap with one for years.

Nice, but I'll stick with my Magazine fed Catamount Fury II(AK pattern).....

Sorry for the delay in responding leadfarmer. Travel for the holidays was bit chaotic this year. It's a double barrel shotgun that works as such...pull the handle to rack it, pull trigger, pull trigger, repeat.

Check out the blog and forum for pictures and more information.

Didn't kick too bad, I was just unable to rack it on my own. The guy had to bump it for me. Appears to be pretty reliable. I couldn't even guess how many rounds went through the three they had on hand at the range and he never cleaned it.

Drfootball...it is made in CT by Standard Manufacturing.

Title: 38th SHOT Show® Kicks Off at Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas
Post by: GunLink_SHOT_16 on January 19, 2016, 02:26:31 PM
38th SHOT Show® Kicks Off at Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas

Firearm industry professionals gather at largest trade show for target shooting, hunting, outdoor and law enforcement products

The 38th Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade ShowSM (SHOT Show®) opened its doors this morning at the Sands Expo Center with expectations running high given the energized market in America for firearms, ammunition and accessories.

Over the next four days, the show will attract some 60,000 industry professionals from the firearms and outdoor industry, and showcase new, innovative products used for target shooting, hunting, outdoor recreation and law enforcement purposes.

Owned and sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation® (NSSF®), the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry, the SHOT Show is the largest trade show of its kind in the world. The show is open to trade members only and not to the public; consumers will see the products unveiled at SHOT Show on retailers' shelves during the course of the year.

SHOT Show 2016 opens amid a national trend of surging firearms sales. In December, the NSSF-adjusted total of more than 2.2 million background checks represented an increase of 37.6 percent over the same month a year ago. For all of 2015, background checks, which are used as an indicator of sales activity, were up 8.8 percent over 2014.

The $6.6 billion industry is seeing more people going target shooting and purchasing firearms for personal and home protection. The multi-year trend of more women purchasing firearms for protection and recreational shooting shows no sign of easing up. And recent NSSF research shows that minority populations in the U.S, particularly the growing Hispanic population, have a genuine interest in learning about the shooting sports.

Even as Americans purchase firearms in record numbers, industry points out that violent crime continues to decline (http://visual.ly/gun-crimes-plummet-even-gun-sales-rise-0), underscoring that more guns do not lead to more crime, as anti-gun groups inaccurately claim.

"Despite the political challenges being mounted against our industry, it is gratifying to see the American people supportive of firearms ownership and to see new and diverse customers taking their first shots and enjoying our sports," said NSSF President and CEO Steve Sanetti. The week prior to the SHOT Show, NSSF rolled out a Big City Tour of its First Shots introduction-to-shooting program at area Las Vegas shooting ranges that was attended by more than 400 participants.

For the seventh year in a row, SHOT Show will take place at the Sands Expo Center. The show is the largest event hosted at Sands Expo Center, and during its run injects nearly $90 million in non-gaming revenue to the Las Vegas economy.

SHOT Show attracts buyers from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. Hosting more than 1,600 exhibiting companies, the show floor exceeds 630,000 net square feet-equivalent to more than 13 acres or the area covered by the Great Pyramid at Giza. Some 12.5 miles of aisles lead to displays of a wide range of products, including firearms, ammunition, gun safes, locks and cases, optics, shooting range equipment, targets, training and safety equipment, hunting accessories, law enforcement equipment, hearing and eye protection, tree stands, scents and lures, cutlery, GPS systems, holsters, apparel, leather goods, game calls and decoys.

"Even though we have a satisfactory rating from last year of 84 percent from our attendees, we're always looking for ways to improve the experience of the SHOT Show and provide customers with their finest SHOT Show ever," said Chris Dolnack, NSSF Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.

The show's New Products Center has been enhanced. Last year, more than 400 new products were displayed in the center, receiving more than 32,000 barcode scans.

Another enhancement is the new "SHOT Show NEXT (http://shotshow.org/shot-show-next/)" segment of the show. Designed to provide attendees with an introduction to companies currently on the waiting list for exhibitor space on the main show floor, SHOT Show NEXT provides exposure to newer companies and products coming to market.

NSSF State of the Industry Event

On the first evening of the show, NSSF will present its State of the Industry Dinner, where a capacity audience of more than 2,000 will hear from NSSF President Steve Sanetti, learn about NSSF achievements in the past year and be entertained by industry favorite, Jeff Foxworthy.

Major sponsors of the 2015 SHOT Show include Ram Truck Brand, Daniel Defense, Georgia USA, Nissan, Aguila Ammunition, Brownells, GunBroker.com, Sig Sauer, Silencer Co., Smith & Wesson, Vista Outdoor and Winchester.

The show brings together all segments a historic American industry-manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, shooting range operators, outdoor media and representatives from hunting and wildlife conservation groups.

The largest gathering of outdoor media in the world covers the SHOT Show, with NSSF having credentialed 2,500 media members. On the day prior to SHOT Show, Industry Day at the Range provides invited media and buyers an opportunity to test and learn more about new products. SHOT Show will again feature Radio Row, where major conservative radio hosts, including Mike Gallagher, Dana Loesch and Lars Larson, broadcast live from the venue.

In a longstanding tradition, SHOT Show provides a full lineup of professional development opportunities for attendees. Sold out is SHOT Show University, where firearm retailers can learn about new marketing strategies and compliance with federal regulations. Law enforcement professionals have their own series of education seminars.
Title: Yankee Hill Machine introduces new YHM Nitro .30 Cal Can
Post by: GunLink_SHOT_16 on January 20, 2016, 03:07:04 AM
Yankee Hill Machine introduces new YHM Nitro .30 Cal Can

I got the chance to stop by the YHM booth at SHOT Show first thing this morning with the expectation of vising "my" can that I just ordered and am anxiously awaiting the approval for:  The YHM Phantom LT .30.  I did get the chance to meet my can, check it out, see how it feels, etc., but - in addition to that - I was greeted with something better... an introduction to YHM's latest creation, the Nitro .30 suppressor.

The Nitro is a 22 oz 7.62 silencer that is backward compatible with older 5.56 and LT-style mounts (a direct-thread version will be forthcoming, as well, of course).  The target price is under $1000.  Not many concrete details were available since the unit wasn't 100% polished and ready for public consumption, but it was getting close.

YHM had (one of) the original Nitro prototypes in their booth that was still had Phantom markings and a longer length than the newer version with Nitro markings.  Separate endcaps area available, including ones with a smaller aperture that help boost the sound suppression performance of the .30 can when used with smaller calibers like 5.56 and one with a nearly 360 degree compensator.

The shortened LaRue S.I.R.G can meets the length and weight specs that LT was working in and still does claims decent suppression.  We only got to handle it in the boot, since LaRue was at the ATAC range day demoing it and not at the SHOT range day where we were.

We got to see the new GLOCK, Inc. pistols at range day and, yesterday, had a chance to stop by their booth at the show and get some shots of the new Gen 4 G19 and G17 pistols featuring the MOS platform.

The MOS models come from the factory with a section of the slide milled out for mounting an optic such as an RMR or FastFire without the need to buy a custom slide or send your slide out to a machine shop or gunsmith.

We covered the new MOS platform last year (http://blog.gunlink.info/2015/01/20/new-glock-models-officially-unveiled-at-shot/) but, until now, the option has only been available on long-slide models.  Bringing the MOS optics-ready capability to the 19 and 17 models - which are arguably the most popular 9mm CCW and duty pistols ever - seems like a no brainer and should be a big hit with those who like optics on their pistols.  Personally, I can't get used to it.

Even without being big fans of optics on pistols, we did have the opportunity to try out the new See-All Night sights on the same pistol that I usually CCW during range day.

I still find pistol optics tough to get used to, but See-All has come up with an interesting system with a semi-circular lens through which you view a set of crosshairs that are backlit with tritium.

The See-All on pistols has the added benefit of helping the shooter practice good mechanics and pistol handling as well, although the parallax-free sight isn't just for pistols.  It is also right at home on pistols and shotguns as well.

With gun free zones and anti-gun legislation coming down from the federal government, many people are having to think of self-defense in non-lethal or less-lethal terms. TASER is a company that offers a variety of options for people to carry in self-defense. The representative that we talked with also stated that no deaths have ever been linked directly to the high voltage shock.

Measuring only 5 ¼-inches long, 4 ½-inches tall, and 1 1/8-inches wide, the TASER Pulse is small enough to be carried concealed like many subcompact handguns on the market. Features include:
•   Effective range up to 15 feet
•   Yellow accents surround the cartridge so it can be easily identified as a less-lethal weapon
•   Shaved safety levers
•   Angled trigger guard
•   Color contrasting front sight
•   Sloped iron sights
•   LASER assisted target acquisition
•   High intensity LED flashlight
•   The same knock-down power as used by more than 18,000 law enforcement agencies in 107 countries
•   30-second duration of high voltage output allowing the user to make a safe escape

Since the TASER only incapacitates the attacker for 30 seconds, it is highly recommended that you leave the TASER behind and flee to safety once used.  If this happens, TASER has a product replacement program when you submit a copy of the police report of the incident and provide proof of purchase.

MSRP is listed as $399 and includes the TASER Pulse, two disposable TASER cartridges, a soft carry protective cover, a battery pack, and a conductive practice target. Pre-orders are currently being taken through the website (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7647346/type/dlg/https://www.taser.com/) and it is scheduled to begin shipping in the beginning part of this year.

Remember the UltiClip that we covered not too long ago (http://blog.gunlink.info/2015/10/05/low-profile-ulticlip-offers-deep-concealment-improved-retention/)?

We got the chance to talk with the guys from UltiClip in the SHOT Show NEXT corridor at the show and they have come up with an updated model of the clip that should make some people happy.  To accommodate users of many Kydex and other multi-screw holsters, the new clip has three holes (two circular holes and a slot) that allow for multiple fasteners when attaching the clip. The slot will allow the clip to be used with a variety of holsters regardless of the spacing of the clip-mounting screws.

Think the current trend of double-magazine tube shotguns is a lot of firepower?  What if it was a 4-tube, 16-round 12 ga shotgun that didn't sacrifice length?

That's what this beast is, with its rotating removable quad-tube magazine.  They had a lot of colors and paint jobs, but I like the DTOM version the best.

HK had a couple of their newer pistols at the show, including the P30SK SubKompact and the VP40.

The P30SK is the "SubKompact" version of the P30 models and shares the same features, including a fully adjustable grip, ambi controls, and multiple firing modes.

Many “womens” line of handguns and rifles are scaled down versions of the original that were designed with men in mind. A few manufacturers have been designing handguns with women in mind, but the normal outcome is a slightly smaller version of the original that is painted in pink or purple. Many of the rifles are the same as the original, but with a child-sized stock to make it smaller. The end result is ill-fitting weapons that normally painted an awful color, pink. In recent years, there has been a growing number of companies that have been using women to design handguns and rifles specifically for women. There are many obvious differences between men and women, but these subtle differences, such as neck length, are also being considered.

According to the NSSF, approximately 19% of hunters are women. That means 3.3 million hunters a year are female. Women are also the fastest growing segment of shooters on the market currently and there are still only a few weapons that are meant for women. While the number one reason for women to own a weapon is self-defense, the close second is the desire to learn to hunt. An important tool for any hunter is a good, reliable shotgun. A common fix for shotguns to make them usable by women is to add a youth-sized stock. The biggest problem with this route is that the smaller stock makes the gun top heavy, long, and the recoil is much more noticeable.

A few companies have been designing shotguns that are actually meant for women. Syren, a division of Caesar Guerini and Fabarm, has been designing shotguns for women for a couple of years. The stock has been modified to not only be shorter, but to be taller, called a Monte Carlo, to allow for a better cheek weld since women have longer necks. The stocks are also canted to allow for the stock to rest at the shoulder better to help minimize recoil. They are overall lighter, most of the shotguns are under 8 pounds, and are balanced differently to account for the changes. The guns are also designed have a feminine touch without being pink.

Syren currently offers 5 styles of shotguns in a variety of formats and gauges to account for individual use. These are on the pricey side, with some packages costing as much as $7000. If you are a female hunter and are tired of using an ill-fitting weapon, check out some weapons that are meant for you.

I ran into some guys from back near my old stomping grounds who are making some great AR500 targets.  Packable, adjustable, durable, and fun.  Everything you want in a target, right?

We'll have to pay them a visit next time we're in the area and bring you a little more info about them.

We helped introduce you to the HandiRacker (http://blog.gunlink.info/2014/01/25/device-makes-it-easier-to-rack-semi-auto-pistol/) a couple of years ago.  It's a little block of polymer with cutouts for you to fit your firearm into to make it easier to rack the slide - perfect for owners of pistols with stiff recoil springs that give them trouble.

Handi-Racker used to come in four different flavors to accommodate a variety of sizes.  This year, Handi-Racker has made some changes to make the product more versatile by combining two sizes onto a single block, reducing their product line to just two blocks to accommodate all four sizes.  Well, that plus the third block to accommodate Beretta's funny shaped slide.

We got to see our pals from Alien Gear Holsters (http://blog.gunlink.info/tag/alien-gear/) at SHOT Show again this year.  I've been a fan of their quality holsters (and the price, to be sure!) since I first ordered my Cloak Tuck holster (two, actually) quite a while ago and, later, the Cloak Tuck 2.0.  I knew that they had the new Cloak Tuck 3.0 (http://blog.gunlink.info/2015/06/23/alien-gear-releases-third-generation-iwb-holster/) out but I hadn't had a chance to check it out in person, so it was good to see it and feel how sturdy the new internal metal shield and rubber face make the holster feel.

That wasn't the big news though.  Alien Gear already has an OWB holster (http://blog.gunlink.info/2014/08/22/alien-gear-offers-new-lines-of-holsters-accessories/) that can share swappable shells with the rest of their holsters.  Now they have taken the OWB style holster to the next step:  a paddle-style holster that is easier to take off and put on.

The new OWB holster features a pretty cool Alien the Alien head for the paddle (shame it's hidden), a flexible panel inside to provide a universal fit, swappable shells, and Alien Gear's famous warranty.

While we were there, we also got to see the sturdy new gun belts from sister company (http://blog.gunlink.info/2014/06/11/alien-gear-old-faithful-holsters-merge/) Bigfoot Gun Belts (http://blog.gunlink.info/2015/10/22/tedder-industries-launches-bigfoot-gun-belts-line/), as well as their own Alien Gear branded belts.

The belts are offered in double-layered leather of various weights, as well as in a reinforced model with a metal band inside to further help prevent belt sag when carrying.

It's been a few years since we first heard about Sticky Holsters right here on the GunLink Forums (http://gunlink.info/forums/index.php?topic=652.0).  We liked our first one so much (http://blog.gunlink.info/2013/03/07/self-securing-sticky-holsters-provide-flexible-carry-options/) that we're now up to a small pile of them to fit various pistols and revolvers in the GunLink CCW stable.

Two years ago we saw an update to the Sticky Holsters (http://blog.gunlink.info/2014/01/19/sticky-holsters-for-iwb-tuck-get-a-welcome-update/) that added a Kydex insert to the flexible IWB holsters to provide some structure.

When we stopped by this year, we saw that the inserts for pocket pistols are in full production and that small pistols have been added to the lineup, such as the Shield.

We also got to see a great addition to the Sticky line that has apparently been out for a while but which we didn't know about - magazine carriers - which are already growing into their own full product line.

The magazine carriers are made from the same magical material as Sticky's the holsters and now come in a few different flavors, which we'll cover more in depth soon.

We also got to see the Sticky garter - thigh holster with some frilly stuff on it.  Perfect for discrete carry for a night out on the town.  With this kind of carry, there isn't much printing; if you're carrying like this and get "made," somebody is going to be surprised.

Remember the DP-12 Double-Pump-Shotgun that we told you about last year at SHOT Show (http://blog.gunlink.info/2015/01/26/shot-show-range-day-2015-what-you-missed/)?  Think "cha-chuck, BANG, BANG, cha-chuck, BANG, BANG" and you have the idea.

Well, those guys are back with some new shotgun models:  the SKO and SKO-BULL - respectively, a semi-auto shotgun with AR-esque controls and a bullpup version thereof.

I was intrigued when I saw that Bond Arms - the double-barreled derringer folks you see in the back of every gun magazine ever - was making a semi-auto 9mm now.  A bullpup design, at that, which gives the performance of a longer barrel with the size of a pocket pistol.

Then, I was hesitant to say "that looks exactly like another pistol I know of" in case there was some kind of bad blood over IP issues.

Then I learned that Bond Arms had acquired the Boberg operation and moved it to The Lone Star State where it is "Made in Texas by Texans."  If you're not familiar with the Boberg, it's an engineering marvel of a bullpup pistol that feeds from a projectile-down magazine by drawing the round rearward on recoil and then chambering it as the slide returns.

The higher calibers won't be available until later, but the 9mm variant will be available in late 2016.

We also got the chance to stop by Tandemkross to see some of their new products that help make firearms, mainly Ruger and Keltec firearms, even better than they already are.

Once such item is the Tandemkross Advantage charging handle/picatinny rail for Ruger 10/22s (http://gunl.ink/TKadvantage).  In addition to a pic rail on top of your 10/22, this gadget allows for left-handed manipulation of the bolt handle so that shooters can quickly clear malfunctions or charge the firearm without having to bring their trigger-hand off of the firearm.

Check out the Daka pouch from Magpul.  They've got a whole line of soft goods coming out and this is one of them.  Think "water resistant banker's bag on steroids"

Polymer infused fabric with YKK water repellant zippers, heatshrinked paracord zipper pulls, dot matix ident areas, carabiner attachment holes, welded seams, and other features to keep our stuff clean.

SHhhhhhhOT Show 2016 – Meet The Silencers of SHOT Show (http://blog.gunlink.info/2016/01/29/shhhhhhhot-show-2016-the-silencers-of-shot-show/)

The popularity of gun mufflers has exploded over the past few years thanks, in part, to efforts by manufacturer conglomerates, silencer demos and events, social media hash-tags that bring awareness (#SilencersAreLegal, #FightTheNoise), and the relative ease of procuring them – despite the blatantly unconstitutional  restrictions placed on them by laws and BATFE rulings.  There is even legislative action to make them even easier to procure – requiring only a 4473 instead of the tedious NFA paperwork and wait time (contact your reps!).

As such, it is no surprise that recent years at SHOT Show have seen an increase in suppressors in display, and the 2016 show was no exception.

Head over to the GunLink Blog (http://blog.gunlink.info/2016/01/29/shhhhhhhot-show-2016-the-silencers-of-shot-show/) to find out about some of the newest cans from outfits like Liberty, Dead Air, LaRue Tactical, SilencerCo, Ruger, and more.

The sick new .45ACP Civic Duty from G2 Research (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7647346/type/dlg/http://www.brownells.com/search/index.htm?k=g2+research), makers of the R.I.P. Round (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/7647346/type/dlg/http://www.brownells.com/ammunition/handgun-ammo/r-i-p-handgun-ammo-prod75319.aspx).

Ridiculous expansion, although I think the rep said it only got about 8-10" of penetration, not quite the FBI 12" mark.

Team GunLink has landed!

Who else is here? Where are you staying? Any big plans for the week?

Sorry we didn't hook up! We were @ Circus Circus( last time I will stay there!!) crappy room with leaky shower and to top it off, I left my wedding band on the bathroom sink ( reported it While we were still driving back, but we were 90 mins. Into the trip back to Sedona ) and I'm still waiting to get it back!! It was found right away so what's the delay!!!???
Several folks I know well in the industry were also there ( Lynne Finch of Armed & Female(Combat Handguns) and Paulo Rubio of Funker Tactical( instructor Zero) among those I know, and the Canadian gents from Military minds as well) and all complained.... But with my health taking a Nose dive in the Spring of '15, and now Needing Dialysis treatments( until I loose 35 lbs and they find me a Kidney) that took 9 hrs out of my time in Vegas, but I met some great ppl at the center who were also there for the show( big ups to DaVita Dialysis south Rancho, who had me in an out( and had lockers so LE and permit holders like myself could lock their Iron up during Treatment!!!) and a Cold water/Ice machine in the lobby! Upon seeing my reading material the tech asked me if I was in town for SHOT show and on discovering what I did and why I was there, 3 techs, two Nurses, and the Dietician all asked me: What carry Gun they should buy  a) less then $500, B) less then $400,c) less then $300, and d) what Caliber/Ammo which I jokingly replied , like I used to tell my apple consulting clients when I did that as a side job after school when I taught in NYC"I get paid for that!!!"

Also being 1.5 miles from the Sands, and having to rent a scooter( special thanks to Joe from Get a Round mobility for the Third year!) to navigate the expo for the third strait year( in '13 when I came as the Guest of a famous Navy Seal( pays to be " in the community" even if all you did was taxi them around in a Blackhawk or Kiowa) I walked the Floor and was dead by Wed. Afternoon, so $80 for the week is a small $$ to
Pay... But needing a special disability Cab... We're already preparing to book Harrahs( next door to the Sands) in a few weeks...
This was our 4th year and 3rd as Media Cred.....
More to follow on Directions of the Admins...

Our team had to move around a bit during the show and we spent a night or two at CC.  Our room was not bad, wifi was easy to use and fast enough for uploading/downloading/streaming/etc. and the staff was friendly enough.  And it's cheap!  But it's just such a PITA to navigate around the place or to go out much of anywhere after the work is done.  For the show itself, the shuttle itself worked out pretty well for us, but I don't know that they are accessible.  We'd probably stay there again, but probably only if there weren't any other affordable rooms available closer.  I spend so much time in that stinking town (and many others) that I have just about given up caring about minor details, as long as it is clean.

PM inbound soon.

As much as I like my Glocks it looks a lot like they have run out of places to go with them. Instead of making big changes, they're just tweaking.  People have been having smiths do this work on Glock slides forever, now you can just get the same thing right from Glock.  I guess you can't improve PERFECTION lol.
