Title: Slow start - update 7-14-11
Post by: jpfowebman on May 22, 2011, 12:29:14 AM
Thanks to the few folks who have signed up so far - I do not expect many but hope there may yet be some more to come along and so make the forum successful.  It is, as has been mentioned, somewhat of an experiment but it is hoped it just may help encourage a few folks to find others in their area.

We'll let it run for a reasonable period of time to give it a good chance and see how it goes.

7-14-11 ....... Still seeing very slow input - pity - as I feel with enough posters we could expect things to pick up and build to a useful level.  I have heard of some folks who had problems getting their registration confirmation emails ........ if this occurs again and assuming this post has been read, then please notify at jpfo@jpfo.org

Hi, jpfowebman et al.

I think that initially there was a problem with activation emails being sent to the spam folder but they were getting sent out (mostly) because some people were still being able to sign up.

More recently there was an issue with the forum mailer and activation emails weren't being sent out in a number of cases.  I believe this is now resolved and emails should be getting through just fine.  All but a very few members who were "awaiting activation" are now activated.

We've also put up a thread (http://gunlink.info/forums/index.php?topic=249) to help those who may be encountering issues with registration/activation.

To help with uptake, we occasionally promote the JPFO "meet up" forum and individual posts on the GunLink Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/gunlink).  It seems to generate a few "views" but not sure how it does for getting new posters.

Thx for the info - maybe we'll see a bit of improvement.

I was aware when setting this all up that it was somewhat experimental - as, probably those wishing to liaise with others in their area are probably in a significant minority.  Hoping tho that as it does gain some more traction, its growth may be more exponential and so achieve some success over time.

This is my first post, and it took me a bit to find my way into this forum. I only recently became aware of the JPFO website, and glad I found it. I live in the NW corner of MT and wonder if any other like minded people live in the area.

Welcome!  Glad you found us.

Still very slow in the forum but ever hopeful that as a few more folks sign in we may just get enough to serve the designed purpose.

Welcome to GunLink, Kohana!  Don't forget to make your introductions in the New Members Forum (http://gunlink.info/forums/index.php?board=21.0).

The JPFO Montana forum is Here (http://gunlink.info/forums/index.php?board=54.0).  I know that we have at least one Western MT member, EMS45.

Feel free to look around.  Hope you enjoy the forums.   :)

Have been off the computer for a while, Crashed my other one and am now trying windows 7.  In answer to the question on Competition I usually use my Glock 34 as it uses G-17 mags and is identical to my EDC G-17 except the extra 1" in sight radius and BBL length. In Stock Revolver I use a S&W 27 with .38 spl reloads. The S&W 27 was the first gun I carried for Personal Protection with .357 Super Vel Hollow points, that was several decades ago and it is still my favorite Wheel Gun. I have since transioned to a Glock 17 for EDC.

Glad you're back up and running, EMS.  I know that process can be a real pain.  We had some computer problems a few months back that forced us to switch from our beloved XP to Windows 7.  It took a little bit to get used to but it's not so bad.

Now that you're back online, don't forget to spread the word and get other shooters and patriots on here, too!

Did you feel undergunned when you first switched to 9x19 from .357?  What loads are you carrying?  Of course, that might be a discussion better suited for Firearms Related or General Talk than here  8)

May be slow but also a lot of people don't have time to sit and chat on forums, I work 14 hour days and with all the different sites people can be on its hard to get to all of them.

I also have all but had to give up forums - not enough time.

Point is, this was not set up for chat - it is only a place for folks to swing by, mention where they are and then see if anyone else wants to make contact.  The intro post did mention that it is not intended as a discussion forum at all, just a way for regional folks to find each other if desired.

Still slow but I hope to soon send out a reminder and try and get a few more folks in - the more we get the more likely others will feel like joining in.

Thing is - the intent here is not to need a huge amount of time for chat - rather just a short visit sufficient to post one's approx location and then hopefully find anyone else and ''meet up'' by using the PM.  To those who may feel discouraged - hang in there and remember anyone - make sure you have set things for email notifications.  That helps keep in touch.

Thanks however to those who have joined up - let's hope for some expansion eventually.
