MyGunDB GunLink Edition - The Official Thread
« on: January 30, 2012, 09:37:10 PM »
Alan Ellis, creator of the MyGunDB firearms inventory system, has been kind enough to work with us to release a GunLink branded version of his software:  MyGunDB GunLink Edition.

In case you hadn't heard, Alan gives this great software away.  For free.  Without charge.  That's right, you can use MyGunDB absolutely free, with all features enabled, for up to ten (10) firearms.  This is perfect for those with smaller collections (yes, some might consider having 10 guns to be a "small" collection) or for those who want to "try it before you buy it."

The official MyGunDB GunLink Edition page is at THIS LINK.  Please note that this software is built on Adobe Air and can run on Windows, OS X and Linux.  If you do not already have Adobe Air, you can get it here.

Download MyGunDB GunLink Edition today and begin using it free for up to 10 firearms.

This was asked in the FREE License Contest Thread but we figure it would bear repeating here:

Is the software acceptable to the ATF for FFL use?

Yes, I followed the ATF's requirements for a digital bound book -- it was the reason I began writing it, since I got my C&R license and couldn't find anything that met their requirements.

Here is a link to the 2008 ruling on their requirements

Is it easy to use?  I don't think I have any where close to that many guns but it would be nice to keep them organized better than bill of sales in a shoe box

Hi, I recently got my FFl and and deciding on what type of bound book to use. I tried the free version of MygunDB, as it works well on my Mac. My question is this- the print out function I can only find under running a report. Is there a way to print out the actual page of a single gun, showing it's photo and details? Also, can you print an inventory list without showing what you paid for it? In essence, can you configure your printout to print just the fields you want it to at any given time?

Thanks,

Relic Hunter

I had replied via email but i'll respond here too:

Single item reports are coming, as are customizable fields, but that isn't  available just yet.

Once i get back from the NRA NAtional Matches the reports will be a priority and the system will be re-written.

Alan, one more question. I tried the free version and used some fictitious guns to play with it and check it out. I have now bought the full version and those guns were still there, I deleted them, but it now has me starting at gun #6. Is there anything I can do to reset the number and start at #1?

Thanks,

Gerard
