I've always thought they looked cool and I thought about getting one.... until I saw the price. Being "neat" isn't worth such a big premium, at least not to me.
I don't remember seeing them in either of those movies (Looper/Total Recall). I'll have to watch again and keep an eye out.

The robots in Total Recall cary them. In Looper it makes a appearance by one of the bad guys with a sidearm

We got to handle them at SHOT Show.  The action is smooth and they feel solid and well put together.

I've got a 4".  Great lot of fun, and reduces muzzle flip greatly.  With the stock wood grip, though, .357 Mag punishes your hand.  Eh, maybe I'm just weak.  But .38 Sp is very light and manageable.  I wouldn't use it as a carry gun, but as a nightstand gun it should be reliable enough, and having the rail on the bottom means that it can have an attached light.  There aren't, however, a lot of customization options out there.
