If you haven't read Bracken's Enemies trilogy yet, they are pretty good.

Every once in a while he gives them away for free in the Kindle format on Amazon and right now is one of those times.

Enemies Foreign And Domestic (The Enemies Trilogy Book 1)
Quote
BULLETS RAIN DOWN UPON A PACKED FOOTBALL STADIUM, killing dozens, and triggering a panic stampede which leads to a thousand more deaths. A police marksman kills the sniper, a mentally unbalanced Desert Storm veteran holding a smoking assault rifle. It's an open and shut case, or so America is led to believe...

In the aftermath of the stadium massacre, an outraged public demands an end to the threat posed by assault rifles, and Congress passes emergency legislation banning their private possession. American gun owners have one week to turn in their semi-automatic rifles, or face mandatory five year federal prison terms.

Jimmy Shifflett, the alleged stadium sniper, is linked to a shadowy "gun club" in southeastern Virginia, which the FBI believes is a cover for a secret right wing militia terror group. Those who knew Shifflett the best don't believe he was a member of any militia, or that he was guilty of the horrific mass murder.

But if he didn't fire the "assault rifle" into the stadium, who did, and why?

Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista (The Enemies Trilogy Book 2)
Quote
A novel about the deconstruction of the American national identity, and the loss of the Southwest.

Foreign Enemies And Traitors (The Enemies Trilogy Book 3)
Quote
Foreign Enemies And Traitors" is set in the near future in an America that is creeping steadily toward socialist tyranny, in the midst of the second Great Depression. A year after earthquakes have devastated the Tennessee Valley, survivors are resisting demands by the federal government to relocate to FEMA refugee centers. United States National Guard units have proven ineffective at forcing these survivors out of the earthquake-damaged regions, due to their reluctance to employ deadly force against fellow Americans. As a result, the president has invited so-called foreign peacekeeping battalions to do the work of forcibly relocating the holdouts. The novel follows a small group of determined survivors in their resistance to the foreign enemies, and the American traitors who are their allies.

If you miss out on the free version but want to check it out, he has a big chunk of the books on his website at www.enemiesforeignanddomestic.com.

Matt's a pretty cool dude and a former Navy SEAL.  Plus, if he's got cool enough pictures of him to be targeted by the brady bunch in their anti-gun spew, he's got to be worth at least checking out, right?  8)

I've read the first book. I'm getting ready to start the second. My SO wants me to read these and few other books of similar nature. This by far has been the most enjoyable of those.

Matt has un-disappeared now.  He was apparently off sailing around off-grid for three months.  Sounds terrible.

New books should be forthcoming.

Not free anymore.  $4.99-$6.99 currently but still worth it IMO.  I read the first one.

It was only for that week, I just hadn't changed the title.  It's fixed now.  They are well worth that price, but if someone did miss out on the free copies and wants to try it before paying for it (aside from the samples on his site) I've seen him have a few free weekends so if he does another one I'll post an update.

Re: Matt Bracken Free Kindles Books, including new Red Cliffs of Zerhoun

Matt is doing another free run of his books in Kindle format.  One day each starting this Sunday for Enemeies Foreign and Domestic, Domestic Enemies, Foreign Enemies and Traitors, the Bracken Anthology, Castigo Cay, and Red Cliffs of Zerhoun.

The last one is the one he just finished and has been pushing as his "counter jijad" book that is supposed to address what's going on in Europe now.  I haven't read that one, but I've read most of the other ones.  The EFAD trilogy will probably make you look at some news stories in a different (paranoid) light  :o 8)
