As you may have heard by now,
Springfield Armory and RRA seem to have really stepped in it.
Both companies are members of the Illinois Firearm Manufacturing Association, who initially opposed an IL gun bill that would have imposed cumbersome state licensing requirements above and beyond the existing Federal Firearms Licensing framework on firearms dealers, manufacturers, and individual involved in more than nine firearm transfers per year.
After securing an exemption for manufacturers (and allegedly unbeknownst to the two primary members of the association), IFMA dropped their opposition to the bill, which has now passed through the IL Senate by a narrow one-vote margin. Many have seen this as the manufacturers, who claim ignorance and 100% opposition to the bill after the fact, selling out and making a deal with anti-gun legislators in the state known for strict gun control measures.
