New Default Forum Options
« on: February 27, 2015, 11:53:11 AM »
We have changed a couple of the default forum options to make the site more user friendly.

After posting in a topic, you will now be returned to the topic instead of being returned back to the topic list for that board.  Editing your post has always returned you to the topic - now posting will behave the same way.  If you want to return to the topic list after posting, you can change this behavior in your account settings (Profile - Look and Layout).

Posting in a topic now turns on notifications for that topic by default.  This lets you follow the post by letting you know when someone else replies to that thread.  If you want to "unsubscribe" from notifications for a topic, you can use the "Notify/Unnotify" button in that thread.  If you want to change the "subscribe by default" setting, you can do so in your account settings (Notifications - where you can also select how you are notified).

You can now "Quick Reply" to a thread directly from the topic page without the need to load a new page. BBC tags can be typed directly in to the Quick Reply box as usual.  Clicking the "Reply" button will load the reply page where you will have all of the BBC buttons for smileys, fonts, URLs, pictures, etc.

As always, feel free to share your feedback about the forum's operation and we will continue to do our best to make the GunLink Forums as fun and easy to use as possible.

If you are using a webhost, you can install a forum like SMF or phpBB. As stated before, very highly customizable and much more robust.

If you need to easily embed a forum into an existing website, use the embeddable forum feature of Nabble. Nabble hosts forums on their website, and the forums can be embedded easily into your website with a few lines of code that they give you.
