The surge in gun violence has Mayor Greg Fischer looking anywhere for answers, including Frankfort.

“I think we should have local control on a lot of issues, and gun safety is one of those things,” Fischer told WDRB in an interview Thursday.

Fischer says he'll push for legislation allowing cities such as Louisville to pass their own gun control or gun safety laws.

“Basic things like a waiting period, background checks, trigger locks,” Fischer said.

But Rep. Phil Moffett (R-Louisville) is throwing cold water on the idea.

“Well, the difficulty he has with that idea is that it's unconstitutional in Kentucky,” Moffett said.

This guy is a useless sack of sh*t.  He directed LMPD to cover up crime downtown and around the waterfront by under reporting it or not reporting it at all, he allows the west end to run rampant, he turns criminals (including violent criminals and repeat drug offenders) loose on the streets, and when it turns out the way that you expect it to, his "answer" is to install cameras and pay for them by sticking it to the utility companies that pass it on to their customers.

Most of what he's suggesting is already a law, there are background checks, guns come with trigger locks and if you don't come back clean on a background check right away there is a waiting period.  KY has state preemption so local cities can't pass any stricter gun laws than what the state has in place.  Go figure... an anti-gun liberal democrat doesn't want to follow the constitution!  I'm shocked.

Not that more gun laws would stop any of the crime, as usual.  The animals just steal the guns from houses, cars, etc. like we have seen in the news a lot recently.  Or from gun stores that they crash cars through, like they did twice this summer.  Or steal them from "the gun train" like the FBI was reporting they did in Louisville a while back.  Or they'll just get them from somewhere else like they do in Chicago.

3000 people shot this year in Chicago, where it's almost impossible to get a gun.  Let's do the same thing in Louisville. Brilliant job, Fischer!
