A new law in the state of Washington, starting in July of this year, requires gun dealers to notify the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs of all denied background checks for firearms sales.
Washington State Police must then put that information into an electronic database. Eventually, a notification system will be implemented that would notify anyone with a protection order against the purchaser of the attempt to purchase a firearm.
The law also allows local law enforcement to investigate the people who attempted to illegally purchase a firearm.
