General Talk / Re: Are they going to ban bump stocks now?

Same way they enforce any other class 3

Europe is lost. A "lock back knife" is a big deal to them? They'd wet their pants if they saw half what people I hang around with carry.
Did they take lessons from this other guy doing the same thing at memphis UPS last december? https://wreg.com/2017/12/08/suspect-wanted-for-stealing-guns-from-ups-facility-arrested/

"According to authorities, Christopher Brown and several other men were caught on camera breaking into a locked tractor trailer at the East Holmes Road location. They reportedly loaded a dozen firearms into a private vehicle and then fled the scene."

Gang bangers were stealing them off of trains around here not too long ago according to the FBI. http://www.wdrb.com/story/25205191/fbi-louisville-police-to-address-youth-gang-memo

"YNO members are "armed in a major way." There is apparently a "gun train" that comes through the West End (specific location unknown) and stops for a couple hours every Sunday night (the reason for this stop is unknown). This train is legitimately transporting firearms from suppliers to retailers to be sold. The train is apparently heavily guarded by armed individuals, but YNO members have figured out how to sneak onto the train and steal guns."

Tell me again how banning bump stocks or making me wait extra days to get a gun is going to stop crime?

I guess the "your guns are safe" routine doesn't apply to gun accessories. How exactly are they going to enforce this?

President Donald Trump said on the anniversary of the 2017 Las Vegas deadly shooting that his administration is close to finalizing a regulation that would ban bump stocks, a device that can allow a gun to fire at speeds that mimic an automatic weapon.

"We're knocking out bump stocks," Trump told reporters Monday. "I've told the NRA (National Rifle Association) bump stocks are gone."

Trump's statements come as the Justice Department nears the end of a year-long process to ban the devices.

The Justice Department said Monday that a ban proposal had been sent to the Office of Management and Budget. After a review period that could last up to three months, the proposal will be published in the Federal Register, where the public may comment on it.

It would ban the manufacture, importation and possession of bump stocks. If and when it goes into effect, those who own the devices would be required to destroy them.

A police review released after the 2017 Las Vegas shooting revealed that of the 22 semi-automatic rifles gunman Stephen Paddock had in his hotel room, 14 of them were equipped with bump stocks. The attack left 58 people dead.

The National Rifle Association (NRA), which frequently advocates against legislation restricting firearms, voiced its support of regulations on bump stocks in the aftermath.

24/7 is one of the few decent shooting guns that taurus made.
Hope yours wasn't one of the 100,000 24/7 that were part of the million gun recall and your TCP isn't one of the problematic ones.
Taurus is not as bad as some brands but I would carry my s&w or a glock or a sig or whatever over a taurus any day. If I had to use it I want to know that it will work.

I have been seriously eyeballing the ranger model - a breaktop for ease of reloading
plink with the 22lr chamber and carry the 22wmr for emergencies

I thought the breaktop was an old model they stopped making??
Is it manual ejector or does it eject when you open it?
General Talk / ATF looking for thieves who stole 400 guns from Memphis UPS facility
« Last post by marktucker on October 02, 2018, 08:18:06 AM »

Federal agents are searching for two men they say stole hundreds of firearms from a UPS facility in Tennessee over the weekend.

Authorities said the men drove a U-Haul van to the UPS warehouse in Memphis Sunday, where they stole about 400 guns.

Investigators said surveillance footage shows one man in a black and gray jacket with dark pants and the other in all black. Both wore neon worker vests.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating and offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions.

Authorities are also investigating whether the theft was an inside job.

The exact number and type of guns stolen is still being determined and investigators are still working on a timeline for the crime.

The guns were being shipped to various cities and companies.

You might have to cut off your arm like the 127 Hours guy too. I don’t think “WORKS GREAT FOR SEVERING HUMAN ARMS!” would be a good ad campaign for Gerber, Kershaw, etc.

Sometimes you have to do what you have to do to survive. I would not do it if I didn't have to but if it was the only way to survive I would. If I was in a situation like that I would want to have a good gun with me too. Even though I would already have at least one hand gun on me anyway a short packable 5.56mm rifle could be very useful for defense or hunting. A bigger round would be better for some certain situations but 5.56mm is a versatile round.
