Title: Project Appleseed and ammo situation
Post by: masfonos on June 19, 2013, 08:57:26 AM
How has ammo (especially .22) availability and price affected turnout at Appleseeds?

The site says to bring 400-500 rounds or 200 for the low round count course.  That plus $80 for the 2-day course can stack up pretty quick, especially if coming as a family.

Have you had more people coming just for the talking and not shooting?  Less people overall?  No change?

There has been a drop in the the overall number of students nationally. However, it varies state to state. Some states are having more students showing up for the stories, and we have been doing more Libraryseeds this year. http://libertyseed.org/

But yes, there has been a drop in students due to the lack of ammo to be had. Shoot bosses have been doing more dry fire practice, and sending less ammo downrange, in an attempt to help, but we still recommend 400-500 rounds per family member.
